According to cancer.gov, obesity is associated with increased risks of several types of cancer, including cancers of the:

  • Esophagus
  • Pancreas
  • Colon and rectum
  • Breast (after menopause)
  • Endometrium (lining of the uterus)
  • Kidney
  • Thyroid
  • Gallbladder

Obesity was linked to an estimated 4 percent of new cancer cases in men and 7 percent of new cancer cases in women in 2007.
