Nature’s Own: A Guide to North Texas Farmers Markets

Farmers Markets are the perfect opportunity to support local and organic farmers while getting a great deal on the freshest, most delicious produce as well as meat, dairy, and other homemade foods.

There is certainly no shortage of Farmers Markets in North Texas. Here’s a list of some of our favorites.

A few tips for your trip to the Farmers Market: bring cash (preferably small bills), a basket or reusable shopping bags, and a cooler to keep your food cool on the way home.

Chestnut Square Farmers Market—McKinney

An old-fashioned farmers market in McKinney’s historic Chestnut Square. Local and organic meat, dairy, honey, and produce vendors set up shop every Saturday at Chestnut Square near downtown McKinney. Market vendors also offer sauces, canned goods, pasta, baked goods, wine, and flowers!

Little D Markets—Various Locations

Little D Markets bring together art, food, and commerce in order to cultivate community and support local businesses in Dallas. Little D operates Uptown Farmers Market every Saturday from 8am to 12pm, Mockingbird Station Farmers Market the last Thursday of the month during the summer, and Little Downtown Market on June 25.

Dallas Farmers Market—Downtown Dallas

Farmers have been selling their goods at the intersection of South Pearl Expressway and Cadiz Street since the late 19th century. Today, the Dallas Farmers Market is a thriving hub cultivating a healthier, more sustainable North Texas. When shopping the Dallas Farmers Market, be sure to shop the Local Farmers shed. The Dallas Farmers Market is open:

Good Local Markets—Various Locations

Good Local Markets is committed to offering the best of local produce, meats, cheese, and much more from farmers artisan vendors. The Lakeside market is held outside Lakeside Baptist Church the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of every month, March through December. The White Rock Market located outside Green Spot Market and Fuels is held the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month March through December. The Vickery Meadow market is open every Sunday March through December outside Half Price Books on Northwest Highway in the Vickery Meadow Improvement District.

Saint Michael’s Farmers Market—St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church

Open rain or shine every Saturday from 8am to noon, the St. Michael’s Farmers Market is located near Preston Center shopping center. The St. Michael’s Farmers Market is open to farmers and growers who practice natural, sustainable, organic farming. All products sold at the market must come within a 150 mile radius of Dallas County to assure freshness.

Frisco Rotary Farmers Market—Frisco Square

Since 2007, the Frisco Farmers Market has served the Frisco area with locally grown, farm fresh produce. Managed by the Frisco Rotary Club, the Frisco Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 8am to 1pm or sell out, May through mid-October.

Collin County Farmers Market—Murphy City Hall

The Collin County Farmers Market has relocated a few miles east from its old location in Plano to the Murphy City Hall parking lot and is open Saturdays from 9am to 1pm now through Oct. 31.
